An important development in my practice is the Sisters: an existing community of non-religious women with whom I will be undertaking a residency in 2026. I will be working with the 'Sisters of the Valley' in California, a collective I have been in dialogue with for the past year. They combine spiritualism, activism, and service, and will form the central focus of my painting as they powerfully embody sisterhood, resilience, and mutual support.
Living and working alongside them will deepen and anchor the work, grounding it in lived experience and shared values. Their quiet, feminine strength sits at the core of both my beliefs and my research, and this residency marks a critical step in bringing greater integrity, depth, and clarity to the paintings.
This period of embedded research will directly inform the work’s conceptual and narrative structure, materially strengthening its positioning.
